The geography of the philippines is very complex because there a lot of islands and places to study and experience and which causes us to be confused but the philippines is an archipelago which composes of 7,107 islands separated from each other. The philippines is a tropical country with a tropical wet climate because of heavy rainfall due to the monsoons that come between the months of may and october.

Due to fast winds and heavy rainfall causes storms to form and hit a near place causing destruction and floods in rural areas. Typhoons such as Milenyo, Ondoy, and Gener were one of the strongest typhoons that we ever experienced. A lot of calamaties were killed/severly injured during these disasters.

This affects the people's way of life because some people can be living in those rural areas or at least near those rural areas causing it to be a bit flooded in those areas. It can also affect the people becuase they can lose their homes because of the strong winds and heavy rainfall, thus they will be homeless and no where to stay but in the rain getting wet.

The Philippines is composed of seven thousand one hundred and seven (7,107) islands. Because of its many islands, it is called an archipelago. They are separated into 3 groups: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It is located in Southeast Asia, and is therefore situated near the Pacific Ocean. It is located above the equator. It is also categorized under the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Because of its position in the Pacific Ocean, it is natural to experience heavy rains, floods and typhoons in the Philippines. This does not, though, imply that it has a cold climate. Due to its position near the equator, the Philippines is a fairly hot place to be in during summer. The monsoons may also bring rain to the Philippines.

With its many islands, it is difficult for the population to communicate and transport from one place to another. This motivated the Americans, who had once colonized us, to improve on it. It has been developing ever since. The access to a large body of water also provides job opportunities, such as fishing. The common occurrence of a natural disaster occurring has also worried the people a great deal. While the better part of us, having money and resources, can use the this knowledge to prepare, the less fortunate can't do anything but rely on the government. This results to a very government-dependent population that complains whenever the government fails to meet their needs. Also, the rain and water resources make it easy to plant rice. This has become our staple food, as it is cheap and filling. The climate, which depends on the location, also causes us to wear sleeveless shirts and shorts during the summer, and jackets and long jeans during the rainy season. As a conclusion, the geography of the country has greatly affected the way of life of its population.

The Philippines is an archipelago comprising 7,107 islands with a total land area of 300,000km2 . There are several landlocked provinces in the Philippines, A landlocked province is one that has no coastline, meaning no access to sea or ocean, such as provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac, to name a few. There are also island provinces in the Philippines, an island province is completely surrounded by water, is the opposite of a landlocked one. The islands are volcanic in origin, being part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, and are mostly mountainous.

With the Philippines being so exposed to the ocean, it is no question why typhoons often hit our country. Examples are Typhoon Fengshen in 2008, Typhone Thelma in 1991, Typhoon Ondoy in 2009 and most recently, Typhoon Helen, in August 2012. The Philippines also experiences a lot of landslides because landslides typically occur after periods of heavy rain, when the ground has become waterlogged and is unabe to hold together. The Philippines Islands are surround by complex plate boundaries and the Philippines Plate rather consists of several microplates – squeezed in between two convergent plate margins, so the Philippines are earthquake central. Some notable earthquakes in the Philippines are the 1990 Luzon Earthquake, 2002 Palimbang Earthquake and the 2003 Masbate Earthquake.

All these natural disasters affect the way of life of so many people, and it is because of the location you are in, the location the Philippines is in. If you are landlocked, it will be difficult to get water resources, and if you are completely surrounded by water, it would be difficult to get other resources that do not depend on water. After a certain place gets targeted by a Typhoon, or Earthquake, or Landslide, it will take awhile before it can get built back up to the state it was in before, making it hard on the people as well.
